Ca. 100-300 AD Roman. A beautiful bronze patera comprising a deep bowl, a ring foot a rounded rim, and an elongated pan handle with incised decoration around a perforation for hanging. A patera is a dish, usually made of bronze, and typically used as a sacred libation vessel during religious events. Though the patera could also be used in the domestic sphere for the preparation or serving of food items. Excellent Condition. Size: L:105mm / W:262mm ; 440g; Provenance: Property of a London gentleman, part of his family collection formed in the 1980s-2000.
