In the Style of Qiu Ying (ca. 1494 - ca. 1552), Palace Ladies Engaging in Weaving, Ca. 16th/17th ct., part of a longer handscroll, 28,6 x 92,5 cm, ink and colors on silk. Painter's seal at the end of the scroll: "Shizhou". Four collectors' seals at the beginning of the scroll: "Qi shang", "Quanshizhai", ".zisun .jia zhi bao". Qiu Ying, style name Shizhou, was one of the most prominent painters in Suizhou. He was especially known for his outstanding depictions of ladies. Palace ladies shown in various activities on long handscrolls were one of his favourite subjects. This fine painting done after a well known composition by Qiu Ying may have been produced in the 16th or 17th century - Property from an old German private collection, mostly assembled in the 1970's - Wear, minor damages due to age
