In the Style of Huang Quan (903-968), Pair of Quails between Flowers and Bamboo, China, 17th/18th ct., handscroll, 28,6 x 92,5 cm, ink and colors on silk. Signature by the artist at the end of the scroll: "Huang Quan from Chengdu". Six collectors' seals at the beginning and at the end of the scroll. Three colophones by Dongchu Tang Hou, Yang Ji (dated 1386) and Shiyan Minzhan. Huang Quan was a court painter in the Kingdom of Shu (Sichuan) and the most famous painter in the detailed and decorative style of bird and flower painting. Painting of quails is a genre which is often ascribed to him.
