An early Kangxi wucai bowl in transitional style, Early Kangxi period, ca. 1662-1780, China, D 16.3 cm, H 7.5 cm, A similar bowl from the Butler collection is illustrated and discussed on pages 431-434 of ‘Leaping the Dragon Gate, The Sir Michael Butler Collection of seventeenth-century Chinese porcelain’ by Teresa Canepa and Katherine Butler, 2021. The exterior with several figures in a landscape. The interior with a rabbit in the base amongst lingzhi and a flowering branch. Marked on the underside with a conch shell symbol mark within a double circle in underglaze blue.A small chipped area on the top rim and some small bruising/unevenness on the standing rim (see close-up photos). A small hairline. A few enamel flakes on the decoration on the inside base (the rabbit). Normal wear from age and use. No restoration.
