A large, colorful, hand painted, early English porcelain slop that is decorated in the Japanese style. The pattern, known as the Rich Imari or Crazy Japan Pattern was produced by Barr, Flight & Barr, which eventually became the Worcester Porcelainpany. A large porcelain bowl that was made as a slop and is hand painted in the Japanese Imari style with bright colors and gilding. The pattern consists of a jumble of Japanese Imari-inspired bright flowers, trees, birds, rocks, stars and fences in wonderfully clashing colors, beautifully painted and gilded with bold strokes. The pattern went on to be one of Barr & Flight's most popular designs for several decades. It has a raised unglazed foot. The base is glazed. There is an incised hand-drawn letter B on the base. MEASUREMENTS 6 5/8” (16.8 cm) diameter x 2 7/8” (7.3 cm) tall. Weighs 13.2 oz (375 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, repairs or breaks. There is modest gilding loss on the mouth rim and only slight wear to the bowl well. This bowl is in excellent condition for age. The enamels are bright and fresh. A beautiful, colorful slop to add to a collection of early English porcelains. It is so colorful and rich looking.
