A Chinese blue and white export charger dating from the 17th or 18th century. The interior features a roundel with a pair of pheasants and a pair of birds in a landscape scene. The roundel is surrounded by four ruyi with fruit on a tracery ground with peacocks. The exterior of the charger has three flower motifs and a mirror symbol on the bottom. Dimensions are: 2 inches tall X 14 inches wide, 5.1 cm X 35.6 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The rim has been ground down. There is glaze popping, chips to the rim, and abrasions to the interior. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s. High resolution images can be found here.
