A Chinese blue and white export charger dating from the 17th or 18th century. The interior features a landscape scene with the "three friends of winter": bamboo, plum, and pine. The scene is surrounded by four ruyi with flowers on a geometric ground. The interior of the mouth has lotus tracery. Dimensions are: 2 1/4 inches tall X 16 1/2 inches wide, 5.7 cm X 41.9 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Rim chipping. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area.
