A Chinese blue and white floor vase dating from the 19th century. The neck and body feature double happiness characters. The body has quatrefoil landscape scenes, one with a pair of cranes and the other with two figures, on a tracery ground. The shoulder is decorated with a band of scholar's items. A pair of phoenix handles flank the neck. Dimensions are: 24 1/2 inches tall X 8 1/4 inches wide, 62.2 cm X 21 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There are a star crack and a chip to the bottom. There is a large iron pit to one scene. There is star cracking to the foot. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
