A Chinese blue and white floor vase dating from the 19th century. Double happiness characters decorate the neck and body between two large quatrefoils. One quatrefoil has a mountain landscape with two figures, and the other quatrefoil has a scene of a bird on a flowering branch. Two smaller landscape quatrefoils decorate the neck. All quatrefoils are set against a vine tracery ground. The handles are in the form of beasts with lingzhi. Dimensions are: 23 1/4 inches tall X 8 inches wide, 59.1 cm X 20.3 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is a star crack to the base and a firing crack to the rim. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area.
