100-300 AD. Roman. Bronze lidded wine vessel with lipped lid, flaring rim, restricted neck, piriform body, high foot on a rounded stem and ear-shaped handle. Wine drinking was an important part of Roman culture. This beautiful vessel would have been used for the serving of wine, which was often consumed mixed with spices or honey.
