100-300 AD. Roman. Rectangular bronze fitting with openwork depiction of a wolf pursuing a rabbit or hare; the scene is surrounded by a border of dots and scalloped edges. Two round perforations along the short ends serve to attach the piece to a piece of clothing or furniture. This hunting motif may have belonged to a Roman aristocrat or military officer.
