YAMANTAKA Bronze, Tibet, 19th century, Dimensions: Height 35 cm Wide 22 cm Depth 14 cm Weight: 6530 grams Also called "the lord of death", Yamantaka is a wrathful expression of Manjushri. Here he is standing on a bull's back in wide stance, whereas underneath the bull is a prostrate person with long hair, altogether placed on a lotus flower platform. The bulls back is decorated with beaded chains. Yamantaka is reaching his hands wide up into the sky, holding weapons. His face is that of a demon with a snout, wearing a crown topped with three skulls on his fiery wild mane. His whole body is adorned with chains and bracelets all attached to a round piece of jewellery in the centre of his chest, a belt made of skulls is hanging from his hips.
