A FINE SILVER-INLAID BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI, Western or Central Tibet, 15th ct., seated in vajrasana on a lotus base with the vajra-emblem placed to the front, his right hand in bhumisparshamudra while the left is resting on his lap, wearing diaphanous monastic cloak, a section draped over his left shoulder in the shape of a swallows-tail, its border finely incised with scrolling tendrils, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast silver-inlaid eyes, smiling lips, pierced elongated earlobes, curled hair-dress continuing into the ushnisha and topped with a lotus-bud, sealed - Property from an important South German private collection, bought from Joachim Baader Munich, 12.4.1998 - Cf.
