A famille rose VOC cup and saucer, Yongzheng period, ca, 1730, China, Saucer: D 10.5 cm, Cup: D 6.5 cm, H 3.5 cm, A teapot (without lid) is in the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. The design of this cup and saucer are based on a coin of the ‘VOC’ ('Verenigde Oost Indischepagnie', the Dutch East Indiapany). This coin was issued by thepany in 1728 for use in the Far East and this pattern (which can be found on porcelain tea sets from which this cup and saucer are a part of) may have been made to celebrate the introduction of this new coinage. The saucer with a very small short hairline (4 mm). A small enamel flake on the surface of the saucer. No other damage and no restoration.
