Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Brightly colored and richly decorated oval hybrid porcelain hard paste dish made by John Rose, Coalport that was influenced by Japanese Imari. The hand painting is so very fine. The gilding is thick and shiny. An oval porcelain dish with a slight four lobed edge was painted with brocade designs, phoenixes, pine tree and a multi colored bird. At a glance, it looks like Japanese Imari. The plate has a shallow, raised glazed foot and a glazed base. The plate is unmarked, which is typical of this age of Coalport porcelain. MEASUREMENTS 11” (27.9 cm) long x 7 ½” (19.0 cm) wide x 1 ¼” deep. Weighs 1 lb 3.6 oz (555 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, crazing or breaks and the dish rings true. There are scratches from wear in the well. The gilding is generally intact, with only a few areas where it’s visibly worn. The two most noticeable are on the interior ridges. There are kiln flaws like bumps and dark spots. The plate is bright and shiny for the age. A large, showy Coalport dish to add richness, age and substance to your china cabinet or sideboard. So much intricate handwork has to be admired.
