DESCRIPTION: From Morimura Brothers, this early Noritake set from Nippon is aged but absolutely delightful. The colors are vibrant and the set is accented with gold beaded details. The main attraction of this set is the chocolate pot. Only two c and saucers remain in good condition so this is a perfect selection to revitalize with your own solid orange or green Noritake demitasse c and saucers. On white porcelain, the chocolate pot with lid, features a simplistic floral design of orange and yellow flowers with green leaves and stems. The florals are outlined by hand, in gold. Circular trim is featured with detailed beading and adds a smart contrast to the florals with abundant white porcelain showing. The pattern also showcases black swirled border on pale yellow background to provide further interest. Gilding has been applied by sponge to the handle and does show slight wear at thumb rest. Two beautifully matching c and saucers apany this set and are a perfectplement with the same design elements. Why I like it: The beauty of a piece created a hundred years ago with such vibrant colors against crisp white porcelain is a very moderne antique. BACKSTAMPS: HandPainted M Nippon (in green overglaze) Circa: 1910-1921 DIMENSIONS: Chocolate Pot: 7” tall plus 2” lid; 5-3/8” base. Cup:2-3/8” x 2-5/8” rim plus handle. Saucer: 5-1/8” diameter. CONDITION: Very Good to Good. No chips, repairs or crazing. Minor manufacturing anomalies (glaze pops) exist. Gold loss on one saucer. The glaze on bottom of one cup is cracked but does not impede porcelain. There are two stress cracks on one saucer, under glaze that does not impede glaze.
