A JAPANESE KYOTO SATSUMA VASE BY ITO TOZAN I (1846-1920) MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912) Of spherical form with a long, slender neck, finely decorated with plum blossoms to the body in raised blue and white enamels and raised gilding below a brocade lappet border to the neck. Three character mark in black enamel to the base reading `Tozan Zo`. 24.5cm high, 12cm diameter OTHER NOTES: Ito Tozan I was one of only five ceramicists to be appointed `Teishitsu Gigei-in` (Imperial Household Artist) in the Meiji Period in Japan. He was appointed for his mastery of enamelling and gilding on the traditional Kyoyaki body.品相报告: No visible faults or damage. No wear to the gilding, no staining to the body.
