Pair of Peachbloom-glazed Brush WashersChina, late Qing period,pressed globular form, resting on a bisque foot ring, the red glaze mottled with milky gray and scattered green spots, six-character Kangxi mark on base, with wood stands, ht. to 1 3/8, dia. to 4 7/8 in. Provenance: A family heirloom collection mostly formed in the 1900-20s by Dr. Frederick Whiting (1821-1946). Dr. Whiting was a philanthropic otologist/professor of Clinical Surgery in Otology at Cornell University who authored the book, Modern Mastoid Operation. He was also known as a collector of American painting, medallic art, and Asian porcelain.
