Peachbloom-glazed "Three-string" VaseChina, late Qing period, liuyeping -form, resting on a bisque foot ring, decorated with two of the three rings around the bottom and one below the neck, the glaze mottled with milky gray and scattered green spots, six-character Kangxi mark on a white-glazed base, ht. 8 in. Provenance: A family heirloom collection mostly formed in the 1900-20s by Dr. Frederick Whiting (1821-1946). Dr. Whiting was a philanthropic otologist/professor of Clinical Surgery in Otology at Cornell University who authored the book, Modern Mastoid Operation. He was also known as a collector of American painting, medallic art, and Asian porcelain.
