Pair of Peachbloom-glazed "Chrysanthemum" VasesChina, late Qing/Republic period, jubanping -form, resting on a bisque foot ring, decorated with incised petaled bands around foot, six-character Kangxi mark on a recessed white-glazed base, ht. to 6 7/8 in. Provenance: A family heirloom collection mostly formed in the 1900-20s by Dr. Frederick Whiting (1821-1946). Dr. Whiting was a philanthropic otologist/professor of Clinical Surgery in Otology at Cornell University who authored the book, Modern Mastoid Operation. He was also known as a collector of American painting, medallic art, and Asian porcelain.
