A Complete Set of Two Matched Implements of The Ritual Fire OfferingTibet, circa 18th-19th centuryBoth of Brass, Copper, and Silver.Kirtimukha Face Implement 92 cm long; Vajra Implement 93 cm longOne has a long handle and Vajra at the end and a Kirtimukha face. The second has a long handle and spoon and a half Vajra at the end and a double Vajra in the center. The first is held in the left hand of the practioner over a blazing fire. The second is similar, with a round shaped ladle and is wielded in the right hand. The practioner scoops up melted butter with the round ladle, then offers it by pouring it into the central prong of the God, Agni for the fire, and heart ceremony . The butter is being offered through the mouth and heart of the Agni himself, symbolized by the pouring from the one ladle into the other, while the mantra a Agni and Buddha archetype deity are recited over and over.
