此件笔杆以白釉为色地，以黄、绿、红诸彩绘画纹饰，时代气息鲜明，殊为难得。笔管上部绘祥云纹，为万历时期特有的云纹画法，中间竖着绘画出两条云龙纹穿梭于火云之中，云龙古拙可爱，虽无永乐、宣德盛世威武刚猛之气，却独具诙诡古趣，为嘉靖、万历时期特有之风格。笔管上端饰锦地纹。本品所饰之红彩色泽鲜妍，华丽凝重，涂施匀净厚润，惊艳四方，动人心魄，益见沧桑犹存的厚重感。
