A Roman bronze spouted oinochoe, 1st century AD, The baluster shaped jug cast with thick walls and thick rim and spout, the concentric circles on the underside of the foot lathe-turned, the high-arching handle cast separately, with foliate ornament along the shaft and a projecting palmette above serving as thumb rest, with swan heads extending on either side along the rim. The terminal in the form of a theatre mask. H 18.8 cm, Good condition with predominantly greyish-green patina and a few small brown patches, Provenance: -Collection of Art Historian Prof. Dr. Albert Blankert, The Hague. -Purchased in 2002 from Galerie Cahn (Basel).
