A Delft pottery tin glazed de Roos Biblical plate, 1690-1710, Netherlands, A rare blue and white Delft plate from a series of Biblical scenes. This one showing Pilate as he washes his hands with Christ before him. Marked Roos on the back. D ca. 22,3 cm, In good professionally restored condition (restoration mainly visible in raking light, the plate was broken into two pieces). Rim chips. Provenance: collection of D.G. van Beuningen (1877-1955) thence by descent. Similar plates by de Roos are in the Vicorian and Albert Museum in London.
