Ca. 1100 AD A rare bronze situla with a scalloped handle, short, bulging neck, out-flared body, and rounded base. The exterior bears an engraved calligraphic frieze below which sits a rondel featuring a figure and a horizontal corded band. This beautiful item may have been used for serving wine during banquets. Size: L:150mm / W:195mm ; 1.7kg Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
