Ca. 618-906 AD A breathtakingly beautiful, modelled horse depicted with head raised, mouth open, flaring nostrils, and bulging eyes under heavy raised eyebrows, the ears prickled, mane swept to one side, well defined muscular legs, tail tied short, seated on a saddle by a well-modelled rider wearing an elaborate green robe with a red underline. The rider is accompanied by a feline companion, seated behind him.This piece has been precisely dated by means of a Thermo Luminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla, an independent German Laboratory. The samples collected date the piece to the period reflected in its style, whilst also showing no modern trace elements. The TL certificate with its full report will accompany this lot. Size: L:540mm / W:460mm ; 7.2kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong.
