This plaque is a reduction from a tablet mounted on a wall in the lobby of Swasey Chapel at Dennison University in Granville, OH. The uniface plaquette has Swasey seated, facing left, in a framed design with his name at the bottom. Signed by Brenner in lower right and dated 1915. Swasey was a mechanical engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, manager, astronomer, and philanthropist. He helped to popularize the field of astronomy by inventing new telescopes and helped build a number of important observatories. He later won many awards in the field of Engineering and for several years was the President of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Smedley #104, Obtained Feb 1990; Johnson & Jensen Lot 383 envelope included.
