Rare, Qing Dynasty Chinese green jade censer. The spinach green jade carved in shape of Globular body, with short straight cylindrical neck, to the wide opening with banded rim. the domed lids with round open petal finial and rococo pattern motif. The censer raised on splayed foot ring, emerging from Fu-lion mask. Having two S-shaped hand extended from the rim, give the wider outreach appearance. Two Fu-lion masks holding free ring created both handle. The main body decorated in relief with rococo floral motifs and a adorned with geometrical archaic taotie mask pattern in shallow relief. The taotie mask may be totemic and can resemble protection or be a representation of the forces of nature. It has served as a warning against greediness, gluttony, sensuality, self-indulgence. The jade shows deep-sea-green color, with moist milky appearance. Jade is a beautiful rich green color, with a bright sheen. Excellently polished stone that is smooth to the touch.
