Chinese grayish-celadon nephrite jade in model of a mythical beast Qilin, generally have Chinese dragon-like features. Eyes with thick eyelashes, manes that flow slightly upward and beards beneath pair of antlers. The body is scaled and shaped like an ox. The head facing upfront, crouching position on its four legs. Displayed exquisitely upon a carved hardwood stand. Qilin are thought to be a symbol of luck, good omens, protection, prosperity, success, and longevity by the Chinese. Qilin are also a symbol of fertility, and often depicted in decorations as bringing a baby to a family. The Nephrite jade shows pale-grayish-celadon with hints of russet inclusions and moist milky appearance.
