A Chinese famille rose hu vase with ruyi zun handles dating from the Republic period. The vase has been converted into a lamp. The vase itself features two roundels of domestic scenes, each with two figures. The roundels sit on a lime green ground with floral tracery. Carved porcelain Shou medallions and bats "hang" from the ruyi zun handles on either side of the vase. The neck, mouth, and foot of the vase have ruyi bands, and the neck has an additional band of stylized banana leaves. Dimensions are: the vase measures 8 1/2 inches tall X 5 1/4 inches wide, 21.6 cm X 13.3 cm, while the lamp measures 21 3/4 inches tall X 11 1/2 inches wide, 55.2 cm X 29.2 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The vase has been drilled through. There is a repair to one of the porcelain strings attached to one ruyi zun handle.
