A Chinese enameled gu vase dating from the 19th century. The vase has beast head handles holding engaged rings. The body depicts outdoor scenes with figures. The bottom of the vase has a 4-character mark surrounded by dragons. Dimensions are: 11 inches tall X 5 inches wide, 27.9 cm X 12.7 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Two cracks to the bottom. The underglaze has worn away. There are glaze chips, abrasions, and glaze pops throughout with severe crazing. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
