A pair of Chinese ceramic Yingqing vases dating from the Song dynasty. These tall and thin vases feature molded decoration of a dragon surrounded by twelve figures. The lids feature bird finials. Dimensions are: the larger vase measures 19 inches tall X 4 3/4 inches wide, 48.3 cm X 12.1 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Both vases feature multiple areas of repair, chipping, breakage, and loss along with general age wear. One lid features cracking and crazing with chips to the bird. The other lid has been repaired. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s. High resolution images can be found here.
