A Chinese gilt and painted wood statue of Weituo dating from the 18th century. Weituo wears armor and his right hand rests upon a weapon. There is a removable panel on the back of the statue. Dimensions are: 25 inches tall X 12 inches wide, 63.5 cm X 30.5 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The weapon and the top of the headdress are missing. There is significant cracking due to the humidity. Age wear including gilt and paint wear. Breakage to the shoulder and finger. Provenance: From the collection of Mr. Williams in Texas. Mr. Williams has more than 50 years of collecting experience in Buddhist sculptures, paintings, and ritual objects from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, and the Central Plains of China. He has participated in sales around the world including in Hong Kong and throughout Tibet and Europe. This lot was purchased from a Seattle, Washington estate auction.
