A Chinese gilt wood statue of historical Buddha dating from the Ming dynasty. He sits in dhyaanasana with his hands in dhyana mudra. His wavy hair is gathered into a bun without an abstracted ushnisha, and a metal urna protrudes from his forehead. Dimensions are: 12 inches tall X 9 inches wide, 30.5 cm X 22.9 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is severe breakage and significant areas of loss to the wood and gilt. There is separation of the wood at the bottom. Provenance: From the collection of Mr. Williams in Texas.
