沈耀初，福建省詔安縣人，自號士渡人，七十後改號士渡叟。1974年獲得臺灣畫學會最高榮譽「金爵獎」，曾與張大千等被選為「臺灣當代十大名畫家」。1975年先後在40多個國家和地區舉辦個展或聯展，作品被國內外諸多博物館收藏。出版有《沈耀初書畫集》、《沈耀初評傳》等。1986年回福建詔安，後於故鄉興建沈耀初美術館。
