The case and bracket both stamped Marchand The waisted case surmounted by an ormolu finial of embracing lovers over applied cornucopia and floral mounts and foliate scroll feet, the door centred by a large mount depicting a playful cherub hiding a key from an excitable puppy, on the matching wall bracket with concave sides set with smiling cherubs heads to each corner and tipped by a lattice-work finial; the cast dial with central bird and foliate scroll decoration enclosed by twelve blue Roman cartouche numerals, framed by an engraved minute band engraved with each number, the enamel makers signature plaque set just below VI; the rectangular movement untied by five vase shaped pillars, with (replaced) anchor escapement striking the hours and half hours on a bell mounted in the caddy above via a numbered outside countwheel, signed in engraved copperplate script along the lower edge.
