LARGE BRONZE LAMA WITH VAJRA AND GHANTA Bronze, Tibet , 16th century Dimensions: Height 36 cm Weight: 11.398 grams A lama sitting in lotus pose on a double lotus base with beaded rim. The lama is dressed in wavy robes with beaded rim falling over his right shoulder, exposing his left arm and shirt with square pattern. The facial expression is warm and friendly with a smile, downcast eyes, high, slim eyebrows and a third eye on the forehead. The ears are slightly elongated and the hair outline is visible. The chin and cheeks show wrinkles, creating a well-rounded face. In his right hand he is holding a vajra, a ritual object, in front of his belly and in his left hand gently placed on his knee he is holding a ghanta, a ritual temple bell. All clothing is finely incised with delicate patterns as well as single strands of hair are visible. On the back of the base is a written incision, the bottom is decorate with a double vajra symbol.
