ARCHAIC TABLEWARE IN YELLOW SERPENTINE WITH RUST VEINS
China, Qing Dynasty, 19th century
Carved in a stone with nuanced green and yellow tones and a few red veins. It stands majestically on a high oval foot with a floor, hollow in its breast. It has an elongated ovoid belly stretched and flattened with double headbands / hems. Shoulder bent. Phoenix tail collar. Serpentine handles connecting the neck to the shoulder. Particularly noteworthy is the quality of the recess in its centre (small splinter on the lip, veins and natural inclusions in the stone).
H: 13.5 cm - W: 6.6 cm - Thickness: 2.5 cm
Approximate weight: 183 grams
Note: Control of the sensitive lapidary in the balance of the proportions of the part and in the sharpness / strength of the bands and hems. A stone that some might call "yellow jade".
