LARGE ARCHAIC COVERED VASE IN PALE CELADON NEPHRITE JADE, FANGHU
China, About 1900
Majestic, it stands on a rocky, vertical and monolithic base. It rests on a short foot with bevelled edges. The belly, of quadrangular cross-section, also with bevelled edges. The curved neck has two handles with windings. A bell-shaped lid with a stepped fretel covers the whole. Branches of magnolias emanating from the rocks spread out in the mud. A highly decorative vase offered for sale with a wooden base in a model that makes it easy to display (natural veins and inclusions).

Note: Note the attention to detail paid by the sensitive lapidary, particularly in the skillful use of stone and iconography to integrate the veins into the composition. It should also be noted that the vase is worked on all sides, with flowers and rocks arranged around the perimeter and at the back.
