When you look closely at Ray’s work, you realize that creating simple forms is anything but simple.As a friend, host, and instructor, Ray was always warm and generous. I have many fond memories of hanging out and chatting with Ray at Arrowmont in Tennessee, a symposium in Utah, and many other places.Ray and Liz hosted my wife Wendy and me for a symposium in England. He picked us up at the airport, took us to pubs, and generally made us feel welcome and at home.We will miss him.The piece for the exhibition is a small Ash Burl bowl that Ray started and I completed. I kept his basic shape, modified by my own sense of proportion, and added a simple carved texture to the exterior.The Ray Key Collaboration Auction
