Signature by the artist: "Painted by Shifu Qiu Ying". One seal of the artist: "Shizhou". At the upper left an inscription by Wen Zhengming (1470-1559), signed: "Zhengming". Two seals: "Seal of Wen Zhengming" (Wen Zhengming yin), "Hengshan". Qiu Ying, style name Shizhou, was one of the most famous painters of figures in Suzhou. In landscape painting he specialized in the popular blue and green style.
