A RARE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF MAHASIDDHA GRUB.CHAN.KU.KU.RIG.PA, TIBET, ca. 17th ct., seated in vajrasana on a lotus base with his right hand touching a dog who is stepping on him in an affection posture, his left arm is resting on the dog, wearing dhoti secured with a girdle, jewellery set with turquoise beads, including channavira, necklace, armlets and bracelets, his cold-gilded face displaying a severe expression with open eyes below raised eyebrows, painted facial details, elongated earlobes with circular ear rings and his blue coloured hair combed in a five-ribbed chignon secured with a tiara decorated with a pair of pattras and floating ribbons, the reverse of base with inscription providing his name, resealed - Property from an important South German private collection, formerly from an old European private collection - A Very similar bronze without lotos base is preserved in the collection of the Tibet Museum Lhasa - Very minor corrosion, very minor wear
