By Svetlana SediychFor the House of Fabergé Jewelry SalonSt. Petersburg, Russia Perhaps the greatest sign of the skill of the lapidary artist is in the execution of the white glove which holds the white handkerchief--cut from the same piece of rough--the handkerchief is moveable upon touch. The rest of the figure comprises a variety of gemstones, most of which originate in Russia and include the following: the hat carved of brown jasper with inset lapis lazuli head band accented with a faceted ruby and gold adornment; the face, carved of light brown jasper using the natural graduation in color of the mineral to suggest reddish ears; the wig, of grey quarzite; the collar, cuff, gloves and handkerchief and eyes of white kascholong opal; the jacket of brown brecciated jasper; the trousers, of green jasper; the socks of brown banded jasper, and the shoes of black obsidian. Raised on a circular red jasper base. This is a unique object, created as an edition of one. Height 8 1/4in
