提要：是书论疮疡，外科诸疾，或论病候，或谈治则，均重预防治疗，先示以图，后附方剂，于今临证颇多适用之方。卷一至卷三总论疮疡的病候、诊法及治则；卷四至卷九分论外科约二百种疾病的证治；卷十附入《痘科珍宝》一卷。卷十一、卷十二为治疗方剂。申氏立方重在实用，兼顾预防、治疗，融二者为一方之中，可视为临证查验选方之书。拍品首有明万历三十二年序，书内收多幅人像病症图。明版存世较少，《中国古籍善本总目》第860页只著录明万历富春堂刊本存十一卷一种，行款与本书同。
申拱宸，明代医家。字子极，号斗垣。长洲（今江苏苏州）人。精于外科，因疗伤多奇效，名噪一时。申氏惋惜华佗之术失传，立志撰本书以补缺憾。
