提要：是书为姚元之编着的笔记，内容涉及朝廷掌故、礼仪制度、民俗风情、人物轶事、花虫木石等。姚元之（1773-1852），清代官员、书画家。字伯昂，号竹叶亭生，安徽桐城人。嘉庆十年进士，在宦海沉浮近四十年，先后在翰林院、南书房、内阁、詹事府、礼部、兵部、刑部、户部和都察院任职。这些经历使他有机会接触到宫廷内幕和朝廷典制，对史实和典章制度的记载足资参考。此本书首刊有“光绪癸巳七月阳湖汪洵署检”牌记，刻工谨严，保存完好。
