提要：是书为清嘉道年间学者沈钦韩代表作，沈氏念《汉书》深博，而唐颜师古注多有疏漏，故远搜故籍，耗时多年，为《汉书》疏证，不但正讹补缺，尤能详陈得失，考论制度。本书在沈氏生前并未刊行，后手稿归郁松年宜稼堂，一直以抄本流传。此浙江官书局本为书成后唯一刊本，校勘精良，错讹极少，字体端秀。首有潘景郑民国二十三年墨笔题跋：“甲戌五月望日购自沪上之来青阁，计值八金。近来局本值亦日昂，得书致费辛苦矣。既望日盉下识于宋韵金篇之居，时酷暑挥汗，午梦初醒。”
