提要：是书继《通鉴纪事本末》后，以纪事本末体记载宋代三百余年历史的史着。全书将重要史事分立为一百九目，纪事始于宋太祖代周，止于文天祥、谢枋得被害，记录有关后周、宋、辽、西夏、金，以及蒙古和元初的各朝史实。其叙事井然，细节把握生动如演义笔法，然绝不随意篡改，务求以史为本，故此本为快读《宋史》之最善文本。本书拍场所见多为同治江西书局本，此湖南思贤书局本较少见，字形整饬，书品完好。
