These spheres are arranged in a five wounds of Christ motif, which represents the wounds Jesus Christ received during his crucifixion. The intricate design of the pendant is further enhanced by the addition of four smaller granules affixed to each corner of the arms, adding a touch of elegance and refinement to the overall composition. The suspension loop at the top of the pendant allows it to be worn as a necklace or attached to other pieces of jewelry, making it a versatile and valuable addition to any collection. Cross pendants were an important part of Byzantine jewelry, serving not only as decorative pieces but also as symbols of religious devotion and piety.
