Ca. 370-325 BC. A graceful pottery large mug or pitcher with a finely ribbed body segmented by a double meander chain band and a wave band, each painted in yellow and white, as well as the pomegranate and tendril design on the neck. Beveled, rounded pour rim and bifurcated handle with a Hercules knot near the rim. A quarter of the body misfired in tan-brown due to improper heat in the reduction process. About 1/3 of the chain band has been inpainted on the part under the handle. An otherwise superior example.Size: L:205mm / W:150mm ; 625gProvenance: NYC collection, ex. Fortuna Fine Arts, NYC.
