此件龙纹罐呈圆尊状，唇口，短束颈，丰肩鼓腹，下腹逐渐收起，足部再度向外撇出，从上到下经历数道曲线，优美大方。尊通体在铜胎上敲出凹凸浮雕，局部图案鎏金，金光灿烂与铜胎本身的深褐色形成暗与亮的强烈对比，更增加了饰物的艺术魅力。此古铜龙纹罐器形厚重饱满，罐体运用了錾花、局部铜鎏金的工艺制法，在古朴肃穆的古铜色底胎上精心琢出七段各具特色的纹样，局部所施的铜鎏金则使这些纹样的轮廓与铜胎的底色构成鲜明对比，最大程度地得到细部的清晰化，堪称清代乾隆时期錾花鎏金技艺的集大成者。
